by January 9th is Cold Day. It is said that on this day in 1795, the fourth Yokozuna Tanikaze Kajinosuke died of influenza, and this day was established to raise awareness of cold prevention and health.
When you have a hard time with a cold, you want to rely on someone. If a character were to take care of you, who would you want to be taken care of? So, Anime! Anime! Conducted a reader survey titled “Which character would you like to be taken care of?” for the first time in five years. During the survey period from December 16th to December 19th, we received responses from 160 people.
The ratio of men to women was almost equal. The age group was mainly young people, about 40 percent under 19 years old and about 20 percent in their 20s. Characters who take care of someone are also featured! 1st place goes to Hinata Hyuga from “NARUTO.” The approval rating was about 8%. Hinata Hyuga is a kunoichi of the Hyuga clan. Many readers said, “When I’m weak, I want a kind girl like Hinata to take care of me. She’s also good at cooking, so I think she’ll make nutritious meals and feed them to me,” and “In the Hidden Leaf Village, Tsunade is the one who uses medical ninjutsu, but I want Hinata to take care of me. If she takes care of me, any illness I have will fly away in no time!” Second place was tied between Shinobu Kocho from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and Nekoneko from “The Apothecary Diaries.”
The approval rating was about 5%. Shinobu Kocho is one of the highest-ranking pillars in the Demon Slayer Corps, and it is a user of the Insect Breathing Technique, the Insect Pillar. “Not only is she an excellent swordsman, but she is also well-versed in medicine. When Tanjiro and the others get injured or sick, they go to the medical facility where she works, the Butterfly Mansion, to get examined,” and “Shinobu developed the poison that kills demons, but she can also make medicine. She has a caring personality, so I think she will take good care of them.” Her specialized knowledge is the deciding factor. Nekoneko is a girl who works as a servant in the harem.
“I think Nekoneko can provide appropriate treatment with her wisdom and knowledge. She knows the importance of food, so she would prepare food that even sick people can eat without difficulty,” and “I’m relieved that Nekoneko is there because she can make medicine that works for illnesses and colds. I’m sure she’ll complain about this and that, but she’ll reluctantly take on the job (lol).” The main character, who loves poisons and medicines, was ranked in the top 10.
The second season of “The Apothecary Diaries” will air on January 10th. Here are some other comments! For Frieren from “Furieren’s Funeral,” “When Fern caught a cold in episode 17, she made medicine and cared for him. Even if we don’t exchange many words, I feel relieved knowing that Frieren is by my side.”
For Chino from “Is the Order a Rabbit?”, “I want her to freeze on my porridge and say, ‘How are you feeling? I hope you get better soon,’ while I eat it.” For Shikano Chinatsu from “Ao no Hako,” “I was jealous when I saw that Taiki had a fever in episode 9 and was taken care of by Chinatsu-senpai, who even cooked him a meal. I want to eat udon too!” For Zenpouji Isaku from “Nintama Rantaro,” “As the health committee chairman, I think he’ll take good care of him. I don’t want to get caught up in Isaku-senpai’s bad luck, but I think he’ll protect me from bad luck while I’m a patient.”
Votes were also cast for characters who play an active role in the movie Dokutake Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist, which is currently showing. In this survey, the highly ranked characters were good at cooking, knowledgeable about medicine, and reassuring when sick. The results showed that protagonists and heroines stood out.
