NHK’s international broadcast features a special on the 25th anniversary of ‘Digimon,’ discussing the story behind its creation and how it differentiated from ‘Pokémon.’

” ANIME MANGA EXPLOSION,” currently airing on NHK World JAPAN, will air a ” DIGIMON Special ” featuring the Digimon series produced by Toei Animation Co., Ltd. today, October 26th (Sun). The “Digimon” special (program cut), which can also be viewed in Japan, will be broadcast on NHK World JAPAN and CATV in four episodes today from 12:10, 18:10, 23:10, and 5:10 the next morning. Free VOD viewing will be available on the official website from the day after it airs.

“ANIME MANGA EXPLOSION” is an English-language documentary program aimed at overseas audiences that covers popular Japanese manga and anime overseas and delves into the creative process through interviews with creators.

This episode explores the appeal of the series, which has been running for over 25 years, and takes a look behind the scenes at the production of the latest TV anime, “DIGIMON BEATBREAK .”

This special feature features an interview with Hiromi Seki, producer of the 1999 anime “Digimon Adventure,” based on the 1997 handheld game “Digital Monster .” The interview reveals the secrets behind the inclusion of original themes of “human bonds” and “growth,” alongside the game’s appealing “training and battling” themes.

The interview also explores the strategic differences between the then-previous “Pokémon” and the previously available “Pokémon.” Kenji Watanabe, a Digimon designer who has designed over 1,000 Digimon, also appears to discuss the “secrets of Digimon design” and the special attention he paid to Gekkomon, Tomorrow’s partner Digimon in the latest series.

The program also offers an in-depth look at the production of the latest series, “DIGIMON BEATBREAK,” which will begin airing in October. Behind-the-scenes footage from the first episode, showcasing the protagonist’s impressive emotional range, will also be shown.
