The Chinese animated feature film “The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Want” has been scheduled for release on November 7th. It has also been revealed that Miyano Mamoru will reprise his role as Mugen from the previous film, “The Legend of Hei: The Future I Choose.” The first teaser trailer and the third teaser visual have also been released.
“The Legend of Hei” began as a web anime in 2011, and the first animated feature film was released in Japan as a subtitled version in 2019. The Japanese dubbed version of the first animated feature film, “The Future I Choose,” released the following year, grossed 520 million yen and had a long run of about six months.
In the previous work, “The Future I Choose,” the black cat fairy Xiaohei (voiced by Hanazawa Kana) was traveling in search of a place of rest and met Mugen, the most vigorous human “enforcer.” The two of them developed a master-disciple relationship as they traveled to the hall where fairies who coexist with humans live.
In the sequel, “The Future We Want,” an attack on a certain hall threatens the peace of the fairy world, and Xiaohei is separated from Mugen. He then sets off on a new journey in search of the truth with his senior disciple, Ruye.
The first trailer contains snippets of the interactions and separation between Xiaohei and Mugen. The third teaser visual depicts Xiaohei, Mugen, and others standing on a floating rock, their faces bearing serious expressions.
