‘Cocoon,’ an anime about girls during wartime, will be broadcast on NHK General TV late at night on August 25th.

The TV anime “Cocoon: From Girls of a Summer,” based on Machiko Kyo’s original work, will air on NHK General TV from 11:45 PM on August 25. The key visual has also been released. “Cocoon: From Girls of a Summer,” which aired earlier on NHK BS in March, is set on a southern island during wartime and depicts a group of female students whose lives change dramatically from carefree days with friends to caring for wounded soldiers as nurses. The key visual captures San and Mayu locking eyes as they live their school life on a warm southern island.

The TV anime was produced 80 years after the end of the war, to inspire people of all ages to think about war and peace. It is directed by Tohko Ina, with music by Kensuke Ushio, and animation produced by Hitomi Tateno. Hikari Mitsushima and San by Marika Ito will play Mayu. The anime’s official website also features comments from Mitsushima and Ito.
