Idol group FRUITS ZIPPER’s latest song, “Hachamecha Wacha Life!”, has been chosen as the new theme song for the TV Asahi anime “Crayon Shin-chan.” This marks the first time in five years (since 2020) that the show, beloved by generations since its debut in 1992, has had its theme song changed. The new theme song will air in October.
FRUITS ZIPPER is a seven-member idol group consisting of Tsukiashi Amane, Chinzei Suzuka, Sakurai Yui, Nakagawa Ruka, Manaka Mana, Matsumoto Karen, and Hayase Noel. Their second single, “Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro,” released in April 2022, became a hit primarily on TikTok, garnering over 3 billion views as of March 2025. In 2011, the group won the Best New Artist Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards for this song. Furthermore, with their first solo performance at Tokyo Dome coming up in February 2014, this collaboration marks a collaboration between the group, which is gaining momentum, and a nationally beloved anime.
The announcement was made today at the event “NEW KAWAII Fest ~See the cutest thing this summer?~” for their flagship program “FRUITS ZIPPER’s NEW KAWAII” (TV Asahi), and was reported directly by the members. FRUITS ZIPPER’s comment is as follows: “We, FRUITS ZIPPER, will be performing the opening theme song for the TV anime series ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ starting in October! All of us have loved ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ since we were little, so we were delighted when we first heard about the project!
