Hanako Oku attracts fans with her steady singing voice! ‘Dragon and Freckles Princess’ 1st Anniversary ‘Studio Chizu Cinematic Orchestra 2022’ Report

A concert titled “Studio Chizu Cinematic Orchestra 2022 ~’ Dragon and Freckle Princess’ 1st Anniversary Commemoration ~” was held on August 14th at the Tokyo International Forum on the theme of director Mamoru Hosoda’s anime works. On September 23rd (Friday), “Princess of Dragons and Freckles” will be broadcast for the first time on the terrestrial wave, with the main story uncut. In this article, we will deliver an event report that thoroughly enjoyed the essence of Hosoda’s work with “music.”

This orchestral concert, the first of its kind for Studio Chizu, will feature famous scenes from Hosoda’s six works, including The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) and The Dragon and the Freckles Princess (21). However, I could enjoy the performance of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the gorgeous lighting production.

The concert consists of two parts. First of all, the first part was played “Bakemono no Ko(15), “Wolf Children’s Rain and Snow” (12), and “Summer Wars” (09). Masakatsu Takagi, who was in charge of the music for “Bakemono no Ko” and “Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki,” performed the piano, enveloping the venue with a gentle tone. From the beginning, the audience could be seen wiping their tears here and there, and after each song, thunderous applause resounded throughout the concert venue.

Four songs from “Bakemono no Ko”: “Festival,” “Three Thousand Worlds Lost Child,” “Mitsutateru Kodomo,” and “Sword in the Heart,” and “Hoshiboshi no Hara” from “Wolf Children’s Ame to Yuki.”

Three songs, “Kitokito – Four Legged Dance,” “Ameagari no Ie,” and “Mother’s Song,” featuring Ann Sally as a guest vocalist, were performed. Many fans seemed to have burst into tears at this point, and sobs could be heard from all over the venue. From “Summer Wars,” “Virtual City OZ,” “KING KAZMA,” “Sakae’s Activity,” “150 Million People’s Miracle”, and “The Summer Wars” were played, and they swayed happily to the rhythm. I saw many people. Part 2 starts with “Mirai of the future.”

The songs played were “Mirai’s Theme,” “Trans Train,” “Marginalia Song,” and “Of Angels.” She relived Kun-chan’s timeless adventures again from her small garden, with the music of her live music propelling her forward.

The next performance is “Natsuzora,” “Sketch,” “Girl’s Anxiety,” and “Karakuri Clock ~ Time Leap” from “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.” Then, Hanako Oku, who participated in the live performance for the first time in 2 years and eight months, appeared as a guest vocalist and performed the insert song “Unchangeable Mono.”

The fans were so excited that the applause could not be stopped from her appearance. Many fans couldn’t stop crying when she sang with the orchestra in the background in her steady voice. Makoto’s “Ikkeeeeeeeee!!” prelude to “things that don’t change” was an irresistible moment. At the concert’s end, we headed to the “Dragon and Freckles Princess” corner.

This concert was held to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the release of “Princess of Dragons and Freckles.” He performed a total of 6 songs, including “Hanabanare no Kimi e.” During the orchestra’s performance of “U,” she felt as if she were at the live performance of the diva Belle, and at the concert’s end, there were voices everywhere saying, “I wanted to hear Belle sing life, too.”

The compatibility between the orchestra and Belle in the video was outstanding, and it was the best space and production in terms of enjoying the world of the virtual world. At the encore, “Overture of Summer Wars” from “Summer Wars” and “Garnet” from “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” was performed.
