“PSYREN” is a masterpiece by Toshiaki Iwashiro, who is also known for works such as “The One Who Sees” and “Kagamigami.”
The story begins when the protagonist, high school student Ageha Yashina, becomes embroiled in the life-threatening game “Siren” while searching for her missing classmate Sakurako Amemiya. It was serialized in Shueisha’s manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from 2007 to 2010. A total of 16 volumes have been published.
PSYREN: A long-awaited anime adaptation
Fans have long been hoping for an anime adaptation of “PSYREN.” In 2025, it was nominated for the second consecutive year in the “Manga Anime Japan” poll for the world’s largest anime event. It became a hot topic because it was unusual for “PSYREN” to be mentioned nearly 15 years after its completion.
