The Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KyotoMaf) 2024, the most prominent manga, anime, and game festival in Western Japan, will be held for two days on September 21st and 22nd at Miyako Messe (Kyoto City Industrial Promotion Hall), ROHM Theatre Kyoto, Kyoto International Manga Museum and other venues.
This time, visuals of collaborations between famous and newest works have been released. In addition, information on limited edition goods and character cafe areas has also arrived.
KyoMaf, also known as the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair, was launched in 2012 to expand the content market in the Kansai region, centered on Kyoto, through such initiatives as “supporting the creation of new businesses using manga and anime,” “supporting the development of creators and creating employment opportunities,” “finding new tourists, including young people and foreigners,” and “improving the brand of Kyoto, a content city, by promoting manga and anime culture overseas.”
This is the 13th time this festival has been held, and it is the most prominent manga, anime, and game festival in Western Japan. Last year’s event was a huge success, with 74 companies and organizations exhibiting, the highest number ever. Not only has it grown into a large-scale event that attracts many visitors, including manga, anime, and game fans, but it has also been held repeatedly as a significant event in Kyoto, leading to industrial promotion such as support for creators and an increase in anime and game production companies in Kyoto City.
This time, the “Kyoto Maf Collaboration Visual” was released. It is a collaboration between “Kyoto Maf” and characters from famous works and the latest ones attracting attention. This year’s theme is “Modern Architecture of Kyoto.”
The collaboration between “Kyoto,” a representative city of Japanese tradition and culture, and “manga, anime, and games,” a Japanese culture that is attracting worldwide attention, is expressed in six works: “Black Butler – Boarding School Arc -,” “Senpai wa Otoko no Ko,” “Paradox Live THE ANIMATION,” “Bocchi the Rock!”, “Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World,” and ” Rurouni Kenshin – Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story – Kyoto Disturbance.” Original goods using these “Kyomaf collaboration visuals” will also be sold at the venue.
The Kyomaf Shop will also carry goods using the “Kyomaf Main Visual” (featuring Kyoto City’s PR character “Kyouno Tsukasa” and Kyoto City Transportation Bureau Subway and City Bus Support Character “Uzumasa Moe”), which has been very popular every year.
Furthermore, in the Character Cafe area inside Miyako Messe, where there are several pop-up stores and food trucks, you can enjoy original food and drinks exclusive to Kyomaf, such as the “Kyomaf Cafe Stand” and the “Okoyasu Ambassador Burger Cafe,” where you can eat original dishes created by “Kyomaf 2024 Okoyasu Ambassadors ” Okamoto Nobuhiko and Yamane Ayaka. When you visit, check out all the goods and gourmet food.
