Voices of joy flood in as sequel production is announced
It’s been about a month since the 2024 spring anime ended. How about looking back at the works announced to have sequels along with the currently popular summer anime?
This article includes the end of “Kaiju No. 8”, “I Was Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince, so I’ll Master Magic as I Please,” and “Sentai Daishikkaku.” Please be careful if you have not watched it. First, “Kaiju No. 8”. This work is based on a manga serialized on the webcomic distribution site “Shonen Jump +” since 2020.
The main story depicts the fierce battle between the “Kaiju” that invades Japan and the “Japan Defense Force” that protects people from the monsters. In the first season, the protagonist “Hibino Kafka (CV: Fukunishi Katsuya)” is found to be “Kaiju No. 8” and is about to be disposed of at the headquarters facility. From there, a fierce battle began with Shinomiya Isao (CV: Genda Tessho), the head of the defense force, to test whether Kafka could maintain his sanity even after becoming Kaiju No. 8.
In the end, Kafka showed his strong will to be human and was recognized as a necessary fighting force for the defense force. Immediately after the first season ended, the news of the sequel was announced, and there were many happy voices, such as “I can’t believe I can watch this godly anime again” and “I never thought it would end here!”.
In addition, in the official video announcing the sequel production, the voice of Narumi Gen (CV: Uchiyama Kouki), an essential character from the second season, can be heard saying, “First unit is in action. Let’s kick them all away,” which has created even more excitement. There was also a lot of anticipation for the sequel to “I Was Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince, So I’ll Master Magic as I Please.”
This work is the story of an ordinary magician who was not blessed with lineage or talent but is reborn as the seventh prince of the Saloom Kingdom, Lloyd D. Saloom (CV: Koichi Makoto), who has a solid magical bloodline and masters magic. Since the beginning of the broadcast, it has attracted attention for its “high quality of animation,” and some people may have started watching it halfway through due to its excellent story.
The final episode ends with a battle with the worst enemy, the demon Gizalm (CV: Shimazaki Nobunaga). Since the first season ended relatively cleanly, it seemed that it would end with the first season, but after the ending, the second season’s production was announced. Many fans of the original work were happy to hear this, such as “This is the best news!!” “The whole family was happy,” and “I’m looking forward to the next church arc.” In addition, it has been decided that a second season will be produced for “Sentai Daishikkaku,” which confused viewers with its unsettling final episode. This work is based on a manga by Haruba Negi, also known as “The Quintessential Quintuplets.”
The outcome of the battle between the Dragon Keeper Squadron and the Evil Monsters had already been decided. Upon learning this, the villain’s underling, Combatant D (CV: Kobayashi Yusuke), takes action to end this farce, declaring, “Defeat the Squadron.” The show attracted attention from the public because it was aired on Sundays, when a “hero show” was broadcast, depicting the behind-the-scenes side of the heroes, and the main character was unnamed.
In the final episode, a battle between D and Blue Keeper (CV: Inoue Tsuyoshi), one of the Squadron members, begins, with D’s passion at stake, but Blue Keeper dies due to interference from a monster executive. The unexpected death of the hero caused disturbing comments from viewers, such as “What an unbelievable ending” and “Is there a traitor flag for the Squadron?” After the broadcast ended, the second season’s production was announced, and many people were excited for the sequel, saying things like “I’m relieved…” and “I want the second season soon!”.
