To celebrate Anime Day on October 22nd, online video streaming service Hulu is currently displaying a massive advertisement for Keroro Gunso the Super Movie, themed “BIG LOVE ANIME Hulu,” on the walls of Shibuya Parkside Kyodo Building. In addition, a photo spot has been added to the Shibuya Happy Board, where you can get up close and personal with famous anime characters such as Itadori Yuji (Jujutsu Kaisen), Nekoneko (The Apothecary Diaries), Okumura Rin (Blue Exorcist), and Kiyotaka.
“The Legend of the White Snake,” Japan’s first full-length color animation film, was released on October 22nd, 1958; Japan has continued to produce a variety of masterpiece animations. In recent years, popular manga and novels have been made into anime, attracting a lot of attention, such as the manga-based anime “Jujutsu Kaisen,” which has a total circulation of 100 million copies, including digital editions, and the light novel-based anime “The Apothecary Diaries,” in which a poison taster girl solves various complex cases in the harem. Japanese animation is now highly regarded and attracts interest in Japan and overseas. It has also become a trigger for foreigners to become interested in Japan. In recent years, many foreign tourists have visited Japan on “pilgrimages” to the places set in anime and manga.
To further spread the appeal of Japanese animation to the world, October 22nd, the release date of “The Legend of the White Snake,” which can be said to be the beginning of Japanese animation, has been designated as “Anime Day.” Hulu’s latest initiative is based on the theme of “BIG LOVE ANIME Hulu,” commemorating “Anime Day” and promoting animation culture that is loved worldwide. A 15-meter-long super-large advertisement for “Keroro Gunso the Super Movie” is displayed on the wall of the Shibuya Parkside Kyodo Building.
In addition, Shibuya Happy Board has started displaying a huge panel featuring popular anime characters that will be attracting attention this fall, such as Yuji Itadori, the main character of the anime “Jujutsu Kaisen,” whose original manga just ended at the end of September this year, and Nekoneko from “The Apothecary Diaries,” which is celebrating its first anniversary since its TV broadcast began and is about to air its second season.
Also depicted are Okumura Rin from “Blue Exorcist: Yukinoka-hen,” which has been airing since October, Kiyoyosi from “Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN,” Sakuragi Mano from “The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors 2nd season,” and Echizen Ryoma from “The New Prince of Tennis U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL.”
In addition, characters from many other works are gathered, making it a great chance to feel close to the characters you always watch. All the popular anime titles listed here are now available on Hulu. With our “BIG LOVE” for anime, we hope you’ll enjoy watching them to the fullest on Hulu.
