The 17th episode (41st episode in total) of the second season of the TV anime “Jujutsu Kaisen” (MBS/TBS every Thursday from 11:56 p.m.) will be broadcast today on the 16th. An official interview with Junichi Suwabe (Ryome Sukuna) has been released to commemorate this.

Please tell us your impressions of “Shibuya Jihen” when you read the original comic and scenario.

“It’s a very intense development. It’s an episode that is a significant turning point for the story. It would require great enthusiasm from the production staff and cast if it were to be depicted in an anime.

Like Kojo et al. 1st Years, Ryoumen Sukuuna will appear in the TV series for the first time in 3 years.

“As I’m sure you all know, in the anime’s first season, Sukuna didn’t appear very often (lol). I was happy to be able to play the main part of the story properly for the first time in a while.” Mr. Suwabe is called Ryomen Sukunana

What impression do you have of the character?

“I thought it was a complicated character. I had been reading the original story as a serial before the anime version was announced, but I didn’t have a clear image of the voice tone of Ryōshukuna…Even during the audition… I was thinking about it a lot. However, even after thinking about it, I couldn’t find an answer, so I decided to try it (lol).

However, my expectations for the anime were high, so I was very nervous until it started airing. I was scared, mainly because I wasn’t sure if I could express myself in a way that would match the image of Ryōshukuna that fans of the original work had in mind. After the show aired, I was relieved to see so many positive comments.” How did you approach the role of such a double-faced person, and how did you decide to play it?

“Since the character has many elements that are not revealed, it is quite difficult to understand him fully. I read and consider as much of the original work as possible, and I feel like I am playing the role while making the image more concrete in my mind.” Yes. However, I still need to find out if that interpretation is correct…I think it’s a challenging role.” The PV video for “Shibuya Jihen” was released (*when the interview was recorded). Please give us your impressions.

“It’s finally here.” The art still needed to be completed during dubbing, so I wanted to see the finished version as soon as possible. As was the case with the first season of the anime, the panels drawn in the manga complement the gaps between scenes, depict the same scene from different perspectives, and add to the film’s fun. I’m especially looking forward to seeing how the many powerful battle scenes turn out.”

In episode 40, “Rainbow,” the battle against the leakage unfolded. Can you tell us your impressions and highlights after recording?

“The battle is unfolding at a breakneck pace. Since the double-faced Sukuna is overwhelmingly strong, there is almost no action improvisation… However, it seemed difficult for Mr. Yugo to be at his mercy (lol).”

There was also a scene in which Sukuna Ryouji complimented Ryougo, saying, “Be proud of yourself. You are strong.” What was it like acting out this scene?

“I would like to refrain from expressing my thoughts on how Ryouji Sukuuna felt when he said those words. Of course, I have my interpretation, but I want to avoid doing anything that will lead to the viewers’ interpretation. I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave it to your imagination.

However, there was something very poignant about it since Ryuko was crying. I hope that the superficial atmosphere can be conveyed for now. In the first season, the recordings were dispersed, but in the second season, things have gradually returned to normal. Does the expression change if there is someone to talk to?

“I don’t think there are many cases in which a person’s feelings change greatly due to the influence of the other person’s words. In the scenes that I have played so far, my expressions have not been affected by interacting with each other.”

It’s finally the end of the Broadcast of “Shibuya Incident.” Please give a message to the viewers.

“As you can tell by watching it, this work was created with an extremely high enthusiasm. ‘Shibuya Incident’ also contains essential elements that will affect the subsequent development. It’s an episode, so catch it at the end. Thank you for your continued support!”
