Animation, drama, and readings of “Looking at Me” will be featured in the program. From “Looking at Me” on “Scary Picture Book Season 7”.

The “Scary Picture Book” series invites viewers into a world of horror with animation based on picture books, drama, and readings by actors. In the picture book “Looking at Me,” a boy is depicted as one who can see “faces” in everything, such as clouds floating in the sky, trees in the schoolyard, scratches on desks, and stains on walls.

Eventually, those faces begin to stare at the boy. Touko Miura appears in the drama. One day, the teacher takes care of a sick girl who visits the nurse’s office and rests in bed. When the girl wakes up, she hears the teacher’s laughter. Miura will play the teacher, and Ikemura Aoi will play the girl. Miura will also be doing the reading. “Scary Picture Book Season 7” will have three episodes, each 10 minutes long.

In addition to “Looking at Me,” the other themes chosen are “Azuki Togi,” written by Kyogoku Natsuhiko and illustrated by Machida Naoko, and “Hide and Seek Cat,” written and illustrated by Tsuji Ninuki. Aito Sakamoto will be involved in the drama and reading of “Azuki Togi,” and Riko Narumi will be involved in the drama and reading of “Hide and Seek Cat .”

Comment from Touko Miura: As a child, I often found faces on the wall. I enjoyed looking for them like a Spot the Difference game, but when I saw them, I remembered that I was scared at night and would avoid eye contact. It’s a story that is easy to relate to familiar experiences, which is why it’s so chilling. Is the role I played scary? Is it not frightening? It’s mysterious. I hope you enjoy it.
