The all-new anime series Dragon Ball Daima will begin airing on October 11, 2024. The second main visual and official trailer has been released. Information on the appearance of Yumiko Kobayashi, Kouki Uchiyama, and Fairouz Ai, as well as the opening theme song, was also announced.

Dragon Ball is a representative Japanese manga by Akira Toriyama that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for about ten and a half years from 1984. The comics have sold an astonishing total of over 260 million copies worldwide, and even after the serialization ended, it has enjoyed extraordinary popularity worldwide, captivating fans with various media mixes such as TV anime, movies, and games.

The momentum shows no sign of stopping, and in 2013, the movie version of the series was revived for the first time in 17 years. While it was a huge hit one after another, in 2015, the series “Dragon Ball Super” started based on the original idea of the original author, Toriyama. In 2022, the movie “Dragon Ball Super Superhero” was released and took the top spot in the domestic opening weekend box office and the US debut box office. “Dragon Ball DAIMA” is an entirely new anime series with a story and character design by Toriyama, which will be newly engraved in the history of the 40th anniversary of the serialization.

The second main visual released this time depicts the new character Panji’s true face, wearing a mask and cape in the first visual. In the background, Gomar and a new mysterious character can be seen peeking at Goku (mini) and the others. The catchphrase has also changed from “Welcome to the Great Adventure!!” in the first visual to “Welcome to the Great Demon World!!” in the second visual, revealing that the adventure takes place in the “Great Demon World.” What kind of adventure will Goku (mini), Kaiōshin (mini), and the new characters Glorio and Panji have in the unknown world of “Daimakai” where conspiracies are swirling? Anticipation is building for the latest Dragon Ball in a new world.

In addition, the newly unveiled trailer begins with a mysterious spell set against the backdrop of a strange world that has never appeared in “Dragon Ball” before. The opening theme song plays as Goku (mini) and Kaiōshin (mini), who have become small due to a “conspiracy,” and the new characters, Glorio and Panji, go on an adventure in Daimakai dynamically. Furthermore, characters making their first appearance, such as a mysterious person who resembles Kaiōshin, a woman-like person sitting with an enigmatic smile, and the shadow of a monster lurking in Daimakai, also appear one after another.

The unveiling of the new characters deepens the mystery. It was also revealed that Yumiko Kobayashi will play Kaiōshin (mini), who became small along with Goku (mini) due to a “conspiracy.” Additionally, Uchiyama Koki will voice Glorio, a new character who joins Goku and his friends. In contrast, Fairouz Ai will voice Panji, a new character whose mask is removed to reveal his true face. Kobayashi, Uchiyama, and Fairouz are also scheduled to appear on stage at the “Dragon Ball Daimatsuri” event at Tokyo Big Sight on October 6.

They each made comments in preparation for their appearance. American Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd will also voice Mori Yukinojo—the opening theme song, “Jaka☆Jaaan” Zedd feat. C&K, which he wrote with C&K, was also announced. This collaboration came about when Zedd, an avowed fan of Dragon Ball for many years, was approached by Dragon Ball Daima to write the song. This is Zedd’s first time writing a theme song for an animated series.

The lyrics were written by Mori Yukinojo, who has released many famous songs that color the world of Dragon Ball, such as “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” and “Limit Break x Survivor.” Singer-songwriter unit C&K, which has established itself as famous for its overwhelming vocal ability and genre-less musicality, also participated in the song’s composition and sang it at Zedd’s request for a chorus unique to Japanese anime.

Zedd, Mori Yukinojo, C&K’s CLIEVY, and KEEN have also each provided comments. The all-new anime series “DRAGON BALL” and “DRAGON BALL DAIMA” will be broadcast nationwide on Fuji TV from 11:40 pm on October 11, 2024. This information release has renewed the official website; further updates are expected.

Yumiko Kobayashi, the voice of Kaiōshin (mini) “Dragon Ball,” is a work that changed my life, so I was so excited just to be able to audition that I thought, “I have no regrets!” I never thought I would be selected, so I seriously thought, “What if it was a dream?” I will deliver an unforgettable memory of a great adventure to everyone who watches “Dragon Ball DAIMA”! Please enjoy it!! Kouki Uchiyama, the voice of Gloria, I never thought I would be able to appear in “Dragon Ball,” so I thought it was a good coincidence and an honor to participate. It’s a production that many people can enjoy, whether they’re a big fan of Dragon Ball or don’t know much about it yet.

The action is superb, and every episode unfolds dizzily, so I hope you’ll watch it until the end! Fairouz Ai, PanjiI’m genuinely honored to be involved as an actor in Dragon Ball, a work loved worldwide. I think DAIMA is a series packed with the charm of the world of Dragon Ball. We go to many places in the film, and each place is filled with exciting drama, so everyone watching will feel like they’re on an adventure with us! Please enjoy it. I’m incredibly honored that they even considered producing music for Dragon Ball. I’ve been a big fan of the series since I was a child, and I never thought the day would come when I would be involved in such a work. It was a dream to write a theme song and score. It’s like a dream to produce music like this for a job I’ve been familiar with since childhood.

Thanks to “Dragon Ball” by Yukinojo Mori, I have often broken through the limits of lyrics. However, I was secretly scared of how far my words could keep up with the stronger Goku (laughs). But, as expected from Mr. Toriyama! DAIMA has slightly changed its vector from “battle” to “adventure,” which will lead us to new excitement. When you are hurt and your heart is shrinking, hum this fanfare I made with Zedd and C&K, and remember your friends in DAIMA. May courage illuminate your next step. CLIEVY: I thought it was some prank. Are we okay with such an important role? That’s my honest impression! KEEN When I heard about Dragon Ball, which I loved back then and still love today, my heart was warmed!
I look forward to the new Dragon Ball DAIMA becoming an excellent work that impacts children and adults. I am proud that artists like us were involved!
