Today, October 22nd is “Anime Day.” The Association of Japanese Animations established it in 2017. This day became special because Japan’s first full-length color animated film, “The Legend of the White Snake,” was released on October 22nd, 1958.

To commemorate this, let’s look at the results of a survey conducted by NetLab from November 14th, 2023, to January 6th, 2024, asking, “Which of Kyoto Animation’s TV anime works do you like?” Kyoani is characterized by its overwhelmingly beautiful drawings and diverse expressiveness. Which of these works received the most support? Let’s take a look at the rankings. *The movie “A Silent Voice” was mistakenly included as an option when voting, so it was excluded from the ranking.

Violet Evergarden
Coming in second was “Violet Evergarden.” It began airing on TV in 2018. It was followed by the movie “Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll” in 2019 and the all-new movie “Violet Evergarden: The Movie” in 2020. The story follows Violet Evergarden, a girl with a prosthetic arm who was raised as an emotionless weapon, as she gradually learns about love through her job as a letter writer, known as an “Auto Memory Doll,” to find the meaning of Major Gilbert’s final words on the battlefield, “I love you.”

“Sound! Euphonium” series
The “Sound! Euphonium” series came in first place. The first season, “Sound! Euphonium,” was broadcast in 2015, and the second season, “Sound! Euphonium 2,” was broadcast in 2016. Spin-off works, and other theatrical versions were also released afterward. The story is set in a high school brass band that aims to win a national gold award.

The story revolves around euphonium player Oumae Kumiko and revolves around relationships and brass band-related issues. The music in the play is also well-played, with professional musicians performing, and the work is particular about the beauty of the sound and the artwork. The third season, “Sound! Euphonium 3,” was broadcast in 2024.
