“Can Friendship Between Men and Women Be Established? (No, It Doesn’t!)” is a youth love comedy based on the light novel of the same name by Nana Nana. Inuzuka Himawari and Natsume Yuu swore eternal friendship to each other when they were in junior high school. Still, their relationship goes awry when Yuu reunites with his first love from the past. JCSTAFF handles animation production. Broadcasting will start in April 2025. Yuu, played by Toya, is a second-year high school boy who loves plants and aims to become a flower accessory creator. He deepens his relationship with Himawari because he dreams of having his shop. Himawari has been Yuu’s best friend since junior high school. She is a cheerful girl who is good at asking for things and is an honor student at school as the daughter of a good family.

A key visual depicting the two was also released. Toya commented, “This work challenges the unresolved question of ‘Can friendship between men and women exist?’ with a ‘No, it doesn’t exist!!’ The excitement of wavering between friendship and love and the fast-paced, funny conversations between Himawari and Yuu are all so off the charts, so I had a lot of fun dubbing.” Suzuyo shared her thoughts after reading the original work, saying, “The frustrating, sad atmosphere of being anxious about the line that cannot be crossed because they are best friends, but still wanting to step in…! is just the best!”

Comment from Toya Kikunosuke (role of Natsume Yuu): I am Toya Kikunosuke, and I will be playing the role of Natsume Yuu! This work challenges the unresolved question of ‘Can friendship between men and women exist?’ with a ‘No, it doesn’t exist!!’ The excitement of wavering between friendship and love and the fast-paced, funny conversations between Himawari and Yuu are all so off the charts, so I had a lot of fun dubbing. Thanks to this series, every episode has me on edge and laughing so much that I feel like I’ve become about ten years younger. Seriously. I hope you’ll look forward to the anime broadcast!

Comment from Suzushiro Sayumi (role of Inuzuka Himari): I’m Suzushiro Sayumi, and I will be playing the role of Inuzuka Himari. I was drawn to the catchy title, which has a theme people seem to be discussing in real life, and I enjoyed reading the original work. As best friends, they are anxious about the line they can’t cross, but at the same time, they want to step in…! The frustrating yet sad atmosphere is just the best! We think that Himari’s slightly unconventional side adds a nice spice to the series, so we hope you will look forward to the broadcast, including that side of her!
