It has been announced that Watanabe Shizu’s manga Dead Account, currently serialized on Kodansha’s web manga service Magapoke, will be adapted into a TV anime.

The main cast has also been announced, with Okamoto Nobuhiko playing the protagonist, Enjo Souri. Uchiyama Kouki will play Kasumi Rukaku and Fairouz Ai will play Urushigawa Kiyo. The anime will be produced by
Synergy SP.

The work is a manga that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) in January 2023 and is currently being serialized in Magapoke.” It is a modern-style exorcism battle action set in a school that trains new-age spiritualists to exorcise ghosts that have become digital with the spread of the Internet.

To earn money for the medical expenses of his younger sister, Hisari, Sori Enjo streamed daily as a flame war streamer, Agaringo. However, after a specific incident, Enjo opened his eyes to electricity and was taken to Miden Academy, which is always full of suspicious rumors.

Author Watanabe commented, “Dead Account will be made into a TV anime! A major theme of the work is the ‘generational change between analog and digital.’ Television is one of the things that has transitioned from analog to digital.

I was reminded of my childhood when I was glued to my CRT TV watching anime, and it slowly dawned on me that it would be made into an anime. Thanks to the excellent staff and actors, Dead Account has been made even more potent than the original, so please look forward to it!”

Okamoto, who plays Enjo Souri, said, “In the internet society, there are various genres of streaming and ways of using SNS, but Enjo’s streaming is of the ‘flaming’ genre. The fun of ‘Dead Account’ is that this genre becomes an ability. I hope you enjoy it, including finding out why this straightforward guy becomes a flaming person!”

Uchiyama, who plays Kasumi Ryūkaku, a student in Class B on the first floor of Yaden Academy, said, “Kasumi Ryūkaku, whom I voice, is a student at Yaden Academy and fights with a hammer. I often use foul language like, ‘Damn it…!’, but I reflect on it every time I do so. He has a cool personality but also has passionate emotions, so I am doing my best to express the various sides of Kasumi Ryūkaku. One after another, unique characters will appear, and the action of the various fighting styles will be portrayed fascinatingly, so please be sure to watch it.”
