In episode 32, Chiikawa cleverly tries to save Hachiware, who has fallen into a hole. Hachiware tries to climb up a vine to escape, but Chiikawa realizes that Hachiware has left his precious sasumata in the hole, so he jumps into the hole himself to pick it up.
In episode 33, Hachiware suggests to Chiikawa that he leave his sasumata behind because he won’t be able to climb if he keeps it in his hand. Still, Chiikawa tries to climb with the sasumata in his mouth. Hachiware can’t help but laugh at Chiikawa, who is unsteady and wobbly with the sasumata in his mouth.
Hachiware escaped from the hole first. Reaching out from the hole, he grabbed Chiikawa’s hand and pulled him up, and the two of them successfully escaped together. Of course, Hachiware’s precious sasumata was also safe.
This scene garnered a flood of reactions, with comments such as, “The bond between the two of them brings me to tears,” “Thanks to Chiikawa, my precious baton has become even more precious to me,” and “The friendship between the two of them is so wonderful, it was a happy ending.”
