This summer is expected to be a bumper harvest.
The lineup for summer anime has finally been announced. While there is usually a tendency for fewer anime titles to be released in summer and winter, 2025 will see a record 84 anime titles start broadcasting in summer.
The previous highest number of titles for a summer season was 78 in 2023, but this year’s record has been significantly broken. As a result, some people may be wondering what to watch.
To help those people, here we will introduce three works that are likely to be popular this summer.
“Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” Season 2 After three years, the sequel to the popular “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” is finally being broadcast.
This work is a love comedy centered on “Gojo Niina (CV: Ishige Shoya)” and “Kitagawa Marin (CV: Naota Himena)” who deepen their relationship through cosplay. The high quality that made the previous work popular is guaranteed, as CloverWorks will continue to be in charge of production this time. The original work, which was serialized in “Young Gangan” (Square Enix), came to an end in March 2025, but the “Kisekoi” whirlwind is likely to continue.
“New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT” When it comes to “no way!” nothing can beat this sequel. “PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT,” which was broadcast in 2010, is making a comeback after 15 years.
The series, which depicts the exploits of fallen angel sisters Panty (voiced by Arisa Ogasawara) and Stocking (voiced by Mariya Ise), who hunt evil spirits, has garnered attention for its distinctive style reminiscent of cartoons and its provocative content.
The new series will feature new angel brothers played by Junya Enoki and Yuto Uemura, and there is a good chance that the series will continue to attract attention for its outrageous and high-quality style.
Hotel Inhumans, based on a manga currently being serialized in Sunday Webry (Shogakukan), is also one to look forward to. Set in a hotel exclusively for assassins, this unique story follows concierges Hoshio (voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi) and Sara Haizaki (voiced by Tounano Shirahama) as they respond to guests’ requests for “exquisite meals,” “supreme relaxation,” “fascinating entertainment,” as well as “arranging the latest weapons” and “perfect corpse disposal.”
In 2025, there will be a string of “hotel anime” masterpieces, such as “Tasokare Hotel” in the winter and “Apocalypse Hotel” in the spring. Hence, expectations are high for “Hotel Inhumans” in that respect as well. It is a summer anime that is both fulfilling in terms of quantity and quality.
In addition to the works mentioned above, there are sequels to popular works such as “Dandadan,” “Kaiju No. 8,” and “Yofukashi no Uta,” as well as new works such as “Tacopi no Gensin,” “Kaoru no Hana wa Brin to Saku,” and “Hikari ga Shinasu Natsu,” so the summer season is set to have a lineup that is promising in terms of both quantity and quality. Readers, check out what’s coming up this summer and think about which works you’ll watch.
