The second season of the spin-off short anime series “Midori no Makibao,” “Dokodemo Makibao: World Tour,” titled “Dokodemo Makibao: World Tour,” will be streamed every Wednesday at 7 a.m. on Sukimano Anime’s official YouTube, X, TikTok, and Instagram starting October 8th. A promotional video was also released, revealing that Otani Ikue will reprise her role as Makibako from the TV anime.
“Dokodemo Makibao: World Tour” follows Makibao and his friends as they travel around the world on a training journey to defeat their arch-rival, Cascade. Awaiting them are a variety of bizarre races that utilize the unique characteristics of each country.
The story includes a “beer carrying race” in Germany, a “rodeo tournament” in America, and even a “huge battle with aliens” in Antarctica. Starting this season, Makibao’s younger sister, Makibako, will also join the race, further enhancing the story. Otani will continue to voice Makibako from the TV anime version. It has also been decided that Inuko Inuyama will play Makibao, Shigeru Chiba will play Chubei, and Toshiharu Sakurai will play Sugasuke, adding to the excitement of this new adventure. “Midori no Makibao” (original author: Tsunomaru) is based on a manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1994 to 1998, and the TV anime aired from 1996 to 1997.
The story follows Midori Makibao, a thoroughbred descended from a famous horse, but with a small, donkey-like stature and a strange appearance, as he grows up alongside the rat Chubei, trainer Masatora Iitomi, and jockey Sugasuke Yamamoto, becoming a famous figure in the Japanese horse racing world as the “white miracle.” The series gained popularity for its mix of comedic and serious sports elements, with a sequel, “Taiyou no Makibao,” released in 2007, and “Taiyou no Makibao W,” which ran from 2011 until 2016.
This new web anime was produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the manga’s serialization and is directed by FROGMAN, who also worked on “Secret Society Eagle Talon.” The story follows Makibao, Chubei, and Sugasuke as they compete in various “races” hidden in everyday life, such as a “first-come, first-served department store gourmet food battle” and “who can pick up the most trash on the beach,” competing against familiar rivals for first place. -Comment from the original author, Tsunomaru: Yay! The second season of Makibao Anywhere has been confirmed! It was worth it to beg on my knees at the launch party.
The original cast, including Inuyama Inuko, Chiba Shigeru, and Sakurai Toshiharu, will also reappear this time. In addition, Otani Ikue’s Makibako will join in, so the chaos is sure to be even more powerful! A ridiculous yet slightly sweet story; let’s enjoy Makibao again in a parallel world that is not part of the original! Comment from Otani Ikue, voice of Makibako: Makibako! It’s been a while! Makibako has been full of energy ever since we first met! I am so happy and honored to be able to meet her again in such a distant future, with her strong will and determination to live! Personally, I was touched that she was able to act together with her brother from the very beginning this time. Please give her lots of love, everyone! Otani Ikue will reprise her role.
Chiba Shigeru as Inuyama Inuko and Chubei, and Sakurai Toshiharu as Sugasuke have also been confirmed to reprise their roles, adding to the excitement of this new adventure with this stellar cast of familiar voice actors. “Midori no Makibao” (originally written by Tsunomaru) is based on a manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1994 to 1998, with an anime TV series broadcast from 1996 to 1997.
