‘Choujun! Chojo Senpai will be made into a TV anime in 2026! A ‘Jump’ serialized, psychic police comedy about the strongest (?) buddy duo, produced by Arbo Animation

The manga “Cho-Jun! Chojo Senpai,” serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump,” has been announced for a TV anime adaptation in 2026. It will be directed by Shunichi Yamamoto, with animation produced by Arbo Animation. A teaser visual was released along with the announcement, along with an original illustration and a comment from

“Cho-Jun! Chojo Senpai” is a psychic police comedy by Shun Numa, serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from February 2024 to June 2025. The story follows the powerful (?) buddy duo of Jun Choujo, a criminal investigation specialist with a wide range of psychic abilities, including mind reading, clairvoyance, and telepathy, and Nao Ipponki, a rookie police officer nicknamed “Gorilla” due to his black belt in judo.

The story follows the two as they protect the peace of Kakimachi, one of Japan’s leading entertainment districts. It won the Next Manga Award for two consecutive years, placing 6th in the comics category in 2024 and 3rd in 2025. The manga has proven popular, with a cumulative total of over 300,000 copies sold, including digital versions.

The recently announced TV anime will be directed by Yamamoto Junichi, with series composition and scriptwriting by Mori Hayashi, and character design by Sasaki Masakatsu. Arbo Animation will handle animation production.

The teaser visual released at the same time features the protagonist, Chojo Jun, a psychic sergeant working at the Chinjuku Nishi Police Box, and Ipponki Nao, a rookie police officer assigned to the same station. Expectations are building for this psychic police comedy brought to you by the ultimate buddy duo. To commemorate the anime adaptation, author Numa Shun shared a newly drawn illustration, along with a comment: “It is only thanks to the strong support of our readers that this work, which has now finished serialization, has been given this opportunity. Right now, I am simply admiring the way passion transforms a work into a phoenix, and I am warming myself in the arms of the phoenix you all created.”

Director Yamamoto enthusiastically commented, “I hope to convey the small acts of human kindness that Cho-Jun and Pon-chan can bring to life through the joy that only anime can offer.
