The TV anime series based on Kohei Horikoshi’s popular work “My Hero Academia ” will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026. To celebrate, a commemorative project called “My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary” has been announced.
Has been released. The project will begin in earnest on April 3, 2026, exactly 10 years after the anime’s first season aired on April 3, 2016. “My Hero Academia” is a superhero action series set in a world where supernatural abilities known as “quirks” are commonplace, following the growth of a quirkless boy, Izuku Midoriya, as he strives to become a hero. The original manga ran in “Weekly Shonen Jump” for approximately 10 years and concluded in August 2024.
The anime series began in April 2016, and the final episode of the “FINAL SEASON” aired on December 13. In addition to 170 episodes over eight seasons, the series has also produced four movies and seven original anime series. To mark the 10th-anniversary project, a commemorative logo and visuals have been released.
The logo features a large “10” combined with the silhouette of the main character, Izuku Midoriya, running and the light of One For All, the “quirk” he inherited from All Might. Longtime character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi has newly drawn the commemorative visuals, impressively depicting the “10 Dekus” as they grow from childhood through their time at U.A. High School.
Additionally, a new anime series commemorating the 10th anniversary has also been announced. Episode 431, “More,” drawn initially in the final volume 42 of the original manga, will be adapted into an anime and broadcast nationwide on 29 stations affiliated with Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV, starting at 5:30 PM on May 2, 2026.
“More” tells the story of Class 1-A, eight years after Deku graduated from U.A. High School and became a professional hero. It garnered a great response when the original manga was released, with many calling for an anime adaptation. It is positioned as No. 170+1 in the TV anime.
Additionally, a concert featuring a luxurious lineup of the anime’s soundtrack, which has supported the anime for nearly 10 years, has been announced. Starting with a performance at the Pacifico Yokohama National Hall on May 30, 2026, overseas performances are also planned.
The official statement concludes, “The projects announced this time are only a small part of the 10th anniversary project, and more projects are planned to be announced and developed in the future. Please look forward to further updates!” This raises the question of what to expect.
