by Fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End have another chance to step into the world of the beloved fantasy series. The popular ORBcafe collaboration cafe “Astronomical Observation Camp” is returning in October 2026, bringing back several fan-favorite menu items and merchandise from last year’s event.
The collaboration will once again feature newly illustrated chibi versions of popular characters from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Alongside returning food and drinks, fans can also look forward to new menu items, exclusive novelty gifts, and additional merchandise.
The special cafe event will be held at two locations in Japan, giving fans in both Tokyo and Osaka an opportunity to enjoy food, drinks, and character goods inspired by the anime.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Collaboration Cafe Returns
The TV Anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” × ORBcafe Collaboration Cafe “Astronomical Observation Camp” will run from October 10 to November 9, 2026.
The event will take place simultaneously at:
- ORBcafe Shibuya Koen-dori in Shibuya, Tokyo
- ORBcafe Osaka Kitahorie in Kitahorie, Osaka
The concept is based on an astronomical observation camp, giving the collaboration a relaxed and atmospheric theme that fits the reflective nature of Frieren.
One of the highlights of the event is the return of the newly drawn chibi character illustrations that were created for last year’s collaboration. These cute designs will once again appear across the cafe menu and merchandise.
However, this year’s event is not simply a repeat of the previous collaboration. Organizers are also preparing new food and drink selections, novelty items, and merchandise, giving returning fans something fresh to discover.
What Is the Astronomical Observation Camp Theme?
The “Astronomical Observation Camp” concept combines the fantasy atmosphere of Frieren with a peaceful stargazing setting.
This is particularly fitting for the series because Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is not only an adventure story. While the characters travel through a fantasy world, the series also focuses heavily on memories, relationships, time, and the experiences people leave behind.
An astronomical observation theme therefore complements the anime’s quieter and more emotional side. Fans can enjoy the cafe as a place to relax while surrounded by character-inspired food, drinks, illustrations, and merchandise.
New Menu Items and Returning Favorites
The collaboration cafe will bring back menu items inspired by the previous Astronomical Observation Camp event.
The returning content is expected to appeal especially to fans who enjoyed last year’s collaboration and want another opportunity to experience the theme.
At the same time, the 2026 event will introduce new menu items, giving visitors a reason to return even if they attended the previous event.
The combination of returning favorites and new offerings is likely to make the cafe appealing to both longtime Frieren fans and people discovering the collaboration for the first time.
Exclusive Merchandise and Novelty Items
Food and drinks are not the only attractions at the event.
Fans will also be able to purchase exclusive collaboration merchandise featuring the newly drawn chibi characters. Additional new goods will be available during the 2026 event, along with novelty items connected to the cafe experience.
An important point for visitors is that merchandise purchases are limited to cafe customers. Fans cannot simply visit the location only to shop for goods without participating in the cafe experience.
The admission fee also includes an admission bonus, making the event more attractive for collectors and fans who enjoy limited-edition anime merchandise.
What Is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End About?
For newcomers, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It is serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday.
The story begins after the Demon King has already been defeated.
Rather than following a traditional fantasy adventure where heroes are still trying to save the world, the series asks what happens after the adventure is over.
The main character, Frieren, is an elven mage who has lived for more than a thousand years. She was once a member of the hero’s party that defeated the Demon King.
Because elves have extraordinarily long lifespans, Frieren experiences the passage of time very differently from the humans around her. After the original adventure ends, she begins to understand the importance of the relationships she formed with her former companions and the people she meets along the way.
This unique approach to fantasy storytelling has helped Frieren become one of the most widely discussed modern anime and manga series.
Frieren Anime Seasons and Future Plans
The television anime adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End premiered in September 2023 and continued through March 2024.
The second season later aired from January to March 2026, continuing Frieren’s journey and expanding the story for anime viewers.
The series is also scheduled to continue with its third season, “The Golden Land Arc,” in October 2027.
This means the return of the Astronomical Observation Camp collaboration arrives during an exciting period for the franchise, giving fans another way to enjoy Frieren while waiting for the next major anime installment.
Why Fans Are Excited About the Return
The biggest appeal of the collaboration is the opportunity to experience Frieren in a more relaxed and interactive setting.
The series is known for its beautiful fantasy world, memorable characters, emotional storytelling, and quiet moments. The Astronomical Observation Camp concept takes those qualities and transforms them into a cafe experience.
The return of the chibi character artwork is also likely to attract collectors. Chibi illustrations are particularly popular for acrylic stands, badges, clear files, keychains, and other anime merchandise, making the collaboration appealing to fans who collect character goods.
Meanwhile, the addition of new menu items and merchandise means returning visitors will have something new to look forward to.
A Special Experience for Frieren Fans
The ORBcafe collaboration is more than simply an opportunity to buy anime-themed food and merchandise. It gives fans a chance to spend time in an environment designed around the atmosphere of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
For fans who attended the previous Astronomical Observation Camp collaboration, the 2026 return provides another opportunity to enjoy the familiar theme while discovering new offerings.
For first-time visitors, it offers an accessible way to experience the franchise through food, drinks, artwork, and collectible merchandise—even for those who may not normally visit anime collaboration cafes.
