The Anime Tourism Association (Tokyo), which aims to attract visitors and revitalize local areas by utilizing places related to popular anime as tourist resources, held an online presentation on the 13th for the 2025 edition of the “88 Anime Holy Lands in Japan You Want to Visit,” selected based on votes from anime fans both in Japan and overseas. One hundred twenty-four locations were chosen as holy lands, including cities and towns where the 88 works were set.
Fifteen works were newly selected for the 2025 edition, including “Contrary, I Like It But I Hate It” (Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture), “The Movie ‘Trapezium'” (Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture), “Jellyfish Can’t Swim at Night” (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo), and “The Color of You” (Nagasaki City, Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, etc.). The total number of votes was about 105,000, with 49% coming from overseas.
