In addition to a special trailer and teaser visual information for the live-action version of “Oshi no Ko,” it was announced that the drama series will be available worldwide exclusively to Prime members on Prime Video from 9:00 PM on Thursday, November 28, and that the sequel to the series will be released nationwide on Friday, December 20, distributed by Toei.

“Oshi no Ko,” which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 under the joint name of Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo, has a fantastic setting in which a girl is reincarnated as the “Yoshi no ko” of the legendary idol Ai. It is a suspenseful story that does not shy away from shocking depictions and an unprecedented, innovative tale that does not hesitate to cut into the complex world of the “showbiz world,” shocking people of all ages.

The comic has sold 17.5 million copies (as of June 2024), and the anime’s second season is scheduled to start airing on July 3, 2024. Its popularity is gaining momentum.

When the live-action adaptation was announced in January this year as a joint project between Amazon and Toei, and the latest cast members, including lead actress Sakurai Kaito, Saito Asuka, Saito Nagisa, Hara Nanoka, Kayashima Mizuki, and Ano, were revealed, related words such as “Oshi no Ko live-action” became a trending topic on X. Many people expressed their anticipation for further news on this project, which has created a whirlwind of interest for “Oshi no Ko” all over the world.

And now, the long-awaited special video and teaser visuals have been released! The first video begins with a live performance scene of the legendary idol group “First Generation B Komachi” standing on a stage surrounded by countless glow sticks.

The audience is captivated by the dazzling brilliance of Ai (Saito Asuka), the “perfect and ultimate idol” who stands out among the group. However, the story’s world changes completely as the sound of a clapperboard rings out. To the lyrical melody of “Ave Maria,” the images of Aqua (Sakurai Kaito), Ruby (Saito Nagisa), Kana (Hara Nanoka), MEMcho (Ano), Akane (Kayashima Mizuki), and others surviving in the “showbiz world” are shown.

The light and shadow of the entertainment world, where desire, passion, and various intentions intersect. At the end of the video, Ai is suddenly stabbed by someone, and the narrator says, “This story is fiction.” Why was Ai killed? What truth is hidden in Ai’s eyes, who says, “A lie is the ultimate love”? This is an unpredictable, challenging story and a hint of high-quality visuals.

The teaser visual, also released, features the main characters Aqua, Ai, and Ruby. The visual expresses the ever-changing world of social media, where lies and true feelings, truth and fiction, are mixed. It is dotted with photos that recall famous scenes from the original work.

It was also announced that the music video will be directed by Smith, a famous video director who has worked on music videos for popular artists across a wide range of genres, including Ikimonogakari, Ketsumeishi, Snow Man, NMB48, Kazuyoshi Saito, Maximum the Hormone, Kishidan, Fujifabric, Little Glee Monster, and Frederic. His drama works include “I’m Inside Mari” (2017/CX), “I Want to Touch You, So I Want to Die” (2022/WOWOW), and “Love and Bullets” (2022/MBS), all of which are characterized by their unique sensibility in skillfully weaving in humor to depict human emotions and sexuality.

In addition, in 2015, her first feature film, “Midsummer Dream,” was officially entered into the Forecast category at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival at 16, the youngest ever.

The following year, her film “Datsu-Datsu 17” won the Special Jury and Audience Award in the Off Theater Competition category at the same festival.
