Cinema Novecento (Yokohama), the most miniature film movie theater in Japan, will hold a special anime event on September 7th, screening the masterpiece adventure anime “Goodbye, Don Gries!”. “Goodbye, Don Gries!” is an original anime created by director Atsuko Ishizuka, who worked on the hit “A Place Further than the Universe,” which was acclaimed worldwide, and the prestigious animation studio MADHOUSE, and depicts the miraculous encounter of two boys humorously and freshly.
This is Ishizuka’s first time directing an original movie, and he is also in charge of the script. The character design is handled by Yoshimatsu Takahiro, who also teamed up with Ishizuka on “A Place Further than the Universe.” The voice cast includes a lineup of famous and talented voice actors, including Hanae Natsuki, Kaji Yuki, Murase Ayumu, and Hanazawa Kana. Despite being an original animation, this work has captured the hearts of discerning fans and continues to enjoy enduring popularity even two years after its release.
This time, a one-day-only screening will be held as a special event. After the primary screening, Director Ishizuka and Yoshimatsu will be guests for a talk show where they will talk at length about the feelings they put into the film. In addition, after the talk show, there will be an autograph session, photo session, and social gathering (a separate fee is required).
The screening event is scheduled for 2:00 pm to 6:10 pm. Participation fees are 5,500 yen in advance, 6,000 yen on the day, and 4,000 yen for the social gathering (all prices include tax). Preschool children are not allowed to participate. For details on how to apply, please visit the official website.
