To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the TV anime “SHIROBAKO” broadcast by PAWORKS, a commemorative visual by character designer Sekiguchi Kanami has been released.
The scene shows the main character, Miyamori Aoi, also known as “Myamori,” looking at the voice actors holding a “SHIROBAKO” manhole. Along with Mimzy and Rolo, the characters who speak for her worries and struggles in the series, they are celebrating their 10th anniversary.
Furthermore, from Wednesday, October 9th, one episode will be streamed for free every Wednesday on the YouTube channel of Infinite, the company that produced the series. Starting the same day, a maintenance hole with a “SHIROBAKO” design will also be installed in Musashino City, where the series is set.
“SHIROBAKO” is a masterpiece depicting the animation industry’s hardships and hopes.
“SHIROBAKO” is an original anime produced by PAWORKS. It was broadcast in October 2014 as the second in the Working Girls series, following “Hanasaku Iroha.” The title comes from the white box used in the video industry, the first product a creator receives when a work is completed.
The story centers around Aoi Miyamori, who works as a production assistant at the anime production company Musashino Animation, also known as Musani. It depicts the people who entered the industry to become an animator, voice actors, 3DCG creators, and scriptwriters and how they realize their dreams. While the anime industry’s common topics, such as the battles and relationships between companies and creators at the last minute of the deadline, have attracted attention, the ensemble drama of creators working hard to complete the work has received a great response.
A completely new movie version was released in February 2020. To commemorate the 10th anniversary, free distribution on YouTube will be carried out at a pace of one episode per week from October 9th. You can enjoy the daily struggles of Musashino Animation with the same feeling as when it was broadcast.
“SHIROBAKO” maintenance hole cover appears in Musashino City.
The official “SHIROBAKO” X account also runs a social media campaign celebrating the 10th anniversary. Ten people will be given particular transparent files by lottery. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of “SHIROBAKO,” it has been decided that maintenance holes with illustrations from work will be installed as part of an initiative with Musashino City, Tokyo.
At the design maintenance hole production announcement held on October 4th, Kimura Juri (role of Miyamori Aoi), Yoshimura Haruka (role of Yasuhara Ema), Chisuga Haruka (role of Sakaki Shizuka), Takano Asami (role of Todo Misa), and Owada Hitomi (role of Imai Midori) appeared on stage. Together with Musashino City Mayor Omino Yasuhiro, they unveiled all three types of maintenance holes that will be installed in the Musashisakai area. Comments have also been received from the five cast members.
