Saucy Dog’s Shinya Ishihara’s Comment: When I received the offer, I was so happy, thinking, “I’m going to be in the Crayon Shin-chan anime!” Having read the original manga and watched the anime, “living in Shin-chan’s world” has always been something I’ve longed for. Dubbing was extremely difficult. I struggled and tried to keep my voice natural while expressing myself and coordinating it with the animation. I also paid close attention to intonation. I didn’t want to sound too excited and come across as “getting carried away!” (laughs). But if I didn’t match the energy of Shin-chan and the others, my acting would be awkward.

The director’s instructions were precise and easy to understand, which was very helpful. The highlight of this “Theme Song Audition” is the “sense of tempo.” The scenes change quickly, so be sure not to miss them. Of course, it’s packed with “Crayon Shin-chan” vibes, so I’m sure you’ll be delighted!
