The sequel to the 2019 Hollywood movie Detective Pikachu will be directed by Jonathan Crissell, the co-creator and executive producer of the American comedy show Portlandia, Deadline reports.
“Detective Pikachu” is a Hollywood live-action film adaptation of “Detective Pikachu” from Japan’s world-famous game “Pocket Monsters” series. Ryan Reynolds of the “Deadpool” series will be in charge of the voice of Pikachu, and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Ken Watanabe will appear. Directed by Rob Letterman, director of Goosebumps: His Monsters and the Book of Secrets, the movie has grossed $430 million worldwide.
Legendary Entertainment is currently working on a sequel written by Kings of Summer’s Chris Garreta. Reynolds is expected to return to voice Pikachu, though no deal has been signed yet.
“Portlandia” is a sketch comedy show about the unique residents of Portland, USA, starring comedians Gred Armizent and Carrie Brownstein. They are planned and Executive Produced by Armizent, Braunstein, and Jonathan Crissell. From 2011 to 2018, it was broadcast nationwide on IFC for eight seasons.
