In “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” a famous line unites all fans regarding the two indecisive young people. The cry of the monk Zain (voiced by Nakamura Yuichi) that has since been used as a joke in various situations is, “Just go out with him already!!!” which is uttered in episode 17.
The currently streaming anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” is based on the manga of the same name, written by Yamada Kanehito and illustrated by Abe Tsukasa, which is currently being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday.” Set in a world “after” the Demon King has been defeated, the story follows the 1000-year-old elven magician Frieren (voiced by Tanezaki Atsumi ) as she embarks on a “journey to get to know people” with her apprentice Fern (voiced by Ichinose Kana ) and warrior Stark (voiced by Kobayashi Chiaki).
The original comics have won numerous awards and have received overwhelming support and acclaim, with the 13 volumes already published having sold over 22 million copies. The TV anime series, which aired from September 2023 to March 2024, became a huge hit, with many related words trending on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode. The production of the second season of the anime has also been announced.
Fern and Stark are traveling together, and being close in age, they can talk to each other freely. Although they seem to like each other, they often get into fights, so in short, they are a lovely couple. Even so, their relationship does not progress quickly, which must have been frustrating for the older Zain.
In episode 17, when Fern and Stark have another fight, Zain mediates between them and asks Fern, “Do you hate Stark?” Fern replied, looking puzzled, “Why are you asking me that? Does it seem that way to you?” Zain told Fern, “Then let’s talk it out properly and makeup.” Fern went to Stark and honestly told him to be nicer to her, and they made up. After watching the whole thing unfold, Zain yelled, “Let’s just go out already!!!” while gulping down his mug of wooden barrel at the bar.
At the time of the broadcast, Zain’s honest thoughts, which seemed to speak for all viewers, were met with a flood of sympathetic voices, such as “That’s so true!”, “I understand, Zain,” “I completely agree,” “He said everything I wanted to say, word for word,” and “Thank you for saying it!”. After that, this line became internet slang and anime fans often referred to the two indecisive people.
