Based on the planning concept of “Apocalypse Now” x “Bambi” x “Bible,” the final crusade between a teddy bear and a unicorn is created with plenty of “abuse expressions” such as blood spray, internal organs, drugs, BL, and the lower body of a teddy bear. “Unicorn Wars” (2022), the “ultimate anti-war animation,” will be released in advance at Theater Image Forum in Shibuya, Tokyo, from May 25th, and at T. Joy PRINCE Shinagawa and other theaters nationwide from May 31st. It has been decided that the film will be released in an expanded format (Distributor: Squirrel Kit, Provided by: Squirrel Kit/Team Joy/Tom’s Entertainment/PG12).

At first glance, it may seem like a children’s animation with adorable characters. Still, it delves into profound themes of family, religion, the environment, the origins of evil, and the meaning of power. It’s a dark adult fantasy that challenges the notion of ‘conflicts brought about by division’. A unique blend of cuteness and darkness that will surely intrigue you.

The film was directed by the Spanish genius Alberto Vazquez. It is his second full-length work, following Psychonautus: Forgotten Children (2015). It took six years to plan and produce and was created by over 250 elite staff members using 50 characters and 1,500 backgrounds. Contrary to its cute appearance, it is an artistic work that combines 2D and 3D animation, skillfully uses music, and synchronizes with the situation and characters.

Director Alberto Vazquez’s vision depicted how fanatic ideas fuel the spread of war. Despite their cute appearance, the teddy bears embark on actions that defy imagination. This work is a testament to the power of storytelling and the impact of ideas, inspiring us to question the purity of our faith.

This work goes beyond the surface, delving into the divisions of groups and families. It’s a world where love breeds hatred and unnecessary divisions, a world that challenges the notion of God’s peaceful paradise. This emotional depth will indeed engage you.

The story is set in a dystopia. A battle has been going on for generations between “Teddy Bears” and ” “Unicorns”, who live in a magical forest. Assulin, a teddy bear, spends humiliating training days at a military boot camp with his twin brother Goldy, but one day, he joins a search party to find a bear unit that hasn’t returned from the forest.

They encounter dangerous creatures and members who have become cruel. Believing in the words in their Bible, “Whoever drinks the blood of the last unicorn will become a beautiful and eternal being,” they march into the deep forest where unicorns live. Still, they encounter tragic and cruel events there. As events unfold, an unexpected outcome awaits.
