Korean medical fantasy ‘Surgeon Elise’ animated in Japan

On the 28th, Kakao Entertainment, a subsidiary of Kakao, a significant Internet service company in South Korea, made a TV animation in Japan of the medical fantasy “Surgeon Elise,” which recorded a total of 250 million views on the manga distribution site “Kakao Page.”

Announced that it will be ‘Surgeon Elise’ is the main character, Elise, who returns to the starting point of her first life with memories of her first life as a notorious empress and her second life as a surgeon who died in an accident. It is a work depicting the growth of and was produced as a web novel and a webtoon (vertical scrolling manga).

It has gained tremendous popularity in Korea and Japan, and in Japan, the book has sold 1.35 million copies as of February.

The animation version will be produced by KADOKAWA and MAHO FILM and released on a video distribution service.

An official from Kakao Entertainment said, ‘In addition to the global expansion of secondary works produced in Korea, there are more cases of local products such as ‘Elise the Surgeon.’
