by The manga “Maid-san wa Taberu Dake” (Eat the Maid) has been adapted into a TV anime. It’s scheduled to air in 2026, with Ichinose Kana playing the main character, Tachibana Suzume.
“Maid-san wa Taberu Dake” is a manga by Susumu Maeya, currently serialized in “Comic DAYS” (Kodansha). The story follows Tachibana Suzume, who worked as a maid in a British mansion, as she starts a new life in a small Japanese apartment, enjoying Japanese food and encounters with its people.
The teaser visual features a newly drawn illustration of Suzume munching on a taiyaki (sweet pancake) beneath cherry blossoms. A special preview trailer, released at the same time, shows her cleaning her apartment, strolling around the city with a tourist guide in hand, and smiling broadly after eating a taiyaki. An illustration by the original author, Susumu Maeya, has also been released.
“The anime is packed with the cuteness of the sparrows that couldn’t be fully captured in the manga, so I hope everyone will enjoy the broadcast together,” he said in a message. Kana Ichinose, who will be playing Suzume, has played leading characters in numerous works, including Sletta Mercury in Mobile Suit Gundam: Witch of Mercury and Fern in Funeral of Freiren. Regarding the anime adaptation, she commented, “Enjoy the relaxed and warm daily lives of the sparrows!” The main cast has also been announced.
Director is Ryosuke Izumiya, series composition is by Natsuko Takahashi and Saeka Fujimoto, character design is by Chiaki Abe, and music is by Katsutoshi Kitagawa (ROUND TABLE).
