“My Hero Academia,” also known as “Hiroaka,” is a hero action manga by Kohei Horikoshi that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump for 10 years and finally concluded in August 2024. Set in a world where people with supernatural abilities known as “Quirks” are commonplace, the story follows protagonist Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, and his friends at the prestigious hero training school, U.A. High School, as they strive to become heroes who protect society and fight against criminals who exploit their quirks.
The manga series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Counting nine years since the first season aired in April 2016, “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON,” now in its eighth season, marks the final chapter of the TV anime series, depicting the story that began in volume 40 of the manga.
The series will see a showdown between Deku’s most ferocious enemy, the villain Tomura Shigaraki, and the armored-suited “Symbol of Peace” All Might and the “Demon King” All For One. Will Deku’s “story of becoming the greatest hero” be fulfilled in the finale? Or will everything fall apart? It has now been revealed that Porno Graffitti will be performing the opening theme for the “My Hero Academia” final season. Porno Graffitti stated, “Nine years after the opening theme for the first season of the anime, we are now in charge of the opening theme for ‘My Hero Academia’ final season. We hope that this song will inspire the characters who strive to make the impossible possible, as well as the viewers.”
True to their words, Porno Graffitti’s opening theme, “THE DAY,” which aired in 2016, thrilled fans and viewers alike, and the song remains one of the most iconic “My Hero Academia” themes. Nearly nine years later, “THE REVO” for the final season is filled with the desire to “inspire the characters, fans, and viewers.” With a simple yet passionate melody and lyrics that speak of a “revolution within the mind,” the song has raised expectations for its full potential.
A clip of the opening theme song “THE REVO” was also released, along with a promotional video featuring plenty of scenes from the final season, including the showdown between protagonist “Deku” Izuku Midoriya and the villain Tomura Shigaraki, the embodiment of destruction and the most vicious enemy in history. As Shigaraki seeks to destroy everything, Deku, seeing the “crying boy” within him, attempts to save his heart even as they face off in a deadly battle. Deku, the “hero” who fights for others, no matter how much he hurts, and the voices of those who watch and cheer him on.
The combination of intense battle scenes and heart-pounding drama doubles the excitement for the anime’s final season. “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON,” the final chapter of the “My Hero Academia” TV anime series, will air on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV’s 29 stations nationwide every Saturday from 5:30 PM starting October 4.
