Scenes from the new installment of the popular anime series “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,” “Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” (to be released worldwide on Netflix in 2026), have been released. A teaser video and cast information have also been released.
The cast includes Shogo Sakata as Johnny Joestar, Yohei Azagami as Gyro Zeppeli, Kaito Ishikawa as Diego Brando, Rie Takahashi as Lucy Steel, and Kenta Miyake as Steven Steel. This seventh installment in the series is set in late 19th-century America and depicts the first-ever horse race across North America.
The protagonist, Johnny Joestar, is a former genius jockey who is now partially paralyzed and forms a partnership with the mysterious outlaw Gyro Zeppeli to race alongside him. While competing for a huge prize, a terrifying conspiracy swirls behind the scenes, and the story follows the two as they strive for the finish line.
The original manga was serialized from January 2004 to April 2011. “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” is based on the popular manga by Hirohiko Araki, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1987. It is an epic story that depicts the blood ties and fate of the Joestar family, starting with the meeting of two boys: Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando. Based on the theme of “praise for humanity,” it depicts the spirit of overcoming fear, regardless of good or evil, and the courage to face difficulties, and is written in a unique style, with a different protagonist for each of the nine parts.
The comic series has sold over 120 million copies in total, and its striking poses, innovative onomatopoeia, distinctive dialogue, and original worldview have garnered support around the world. It has become a popular work that has been adapted into games, a TV anime, a live-action film, and a TV drama. The ninth part of the manga, “The JoJoLands,” is currently being serialized in “Ultra Jump.”
