Works regretted because “it gets more interesting after the final episode.”

Many popular manga and light novels are adapted into anime halfway through the original story, with no further news afterward. Works that end with more to come are especially eagerly awaited by viewers for the sequel.

For example, “Talentless Nana” (original story: Looseboy / art: Furuya An), which was broadcast as a TV anime in 2020, ended at the beginning of the original story without depicting the truth of the story.

The story is about the protagonist, a girl named “Hiragi Nana,” who does not have psychic powers and is sent to a school to eliminate her psychic classmates who threaten the world secretly. However, after meeting her senior “Tachibana Jin,” who was hiding out and interacting with her classmates, Nana begins to doubt the military she is following. Just as the story was about to reach its core, Nana’s dear friend died in her place, and the anime ended. In the original story, Nana changes her heart and collaborates with her classmates to confront the mastermind.

The anime ends at a turning point in the story, and viewers have expressed their desire for a sequel, saying it was a shame to end it there. Another anime remake that ended abruptly but was properly concluded is “DRAGON QUEST – Dai’s Great Adventure” (supervised by Yuji Horii / original story by Riku Sanjo/art by Koji Inada). Based on the setting of the hugely popular game “Dragon Quest,” the story is set in a unique worldview in which the protagonist Dai and his friends face off against the evil army led by the Demon King Hadlar and the Great Demon King Baan.

The first anime, broadcast on the TBS network from 1991 to the following year, was popular. Still, it ended without a resolution between the protagonist and the Demon King’s executive, Baran, who holds the title of “Dragon Knight. ” There have been calls for a remake for many years.

Then, after 30 years, it was finally re-animated from 2020 to 2022, depicting the final battle with Burn, and its quality was highly praised. However, there is also a phantom second part, “Demon World Arc,” that was not depicted in the original work, and there are still voices hoping for the “Demon World Arc” to be animated.

The TV anime “Golden Gash Bell!!” (original work: Raiku Makoto) also ended halfway through the original work, so it is a work that is expected to be re-animated. “Takane Kiyomaro,” who obtained the Book of the Demon World, teams up with the demon child “Gash Bell” to challenge the battle to decide the king of the Demon World.

The TV series, which ran from 2003 to 2006, begins with an original anime story in the middle of the “Faudo Arc” about the “Magical Giant Warrior Faudo.” The story then flows differently; in the manga, the king of the Demon World is decided, but in the anime, the rivals remain, and the story ends midway through the battle. Therefore, in the anime, it remains unclear what will happen next in the original work, such as whether Gash achieves his goal of becoming a “kind king.”

The original work will resume in 2022 as “Zatch Bell!! 2,” depicting a new battle that begins with the shocking development of Gash’s death. Due to these developments in the original work, many fans are clamoring for a remake that depicts the ending that was not shown or for further sequels to be animated.
