by A revival screening of the CG animation film “Expelled from Paradise” (from now “Expelled from Paradise”) produced by Toei Animation and Nitroprous has been decided.
The period is two weeks, from November 15th (Friday) to 28th (Thursday). To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the release, the film will be screened in a 4K upconverted version (depending on the theater environment, it will be screened in 2K). CG animation “Expelled from Paradise” was produced jointly by Toei Animation and Nitroplus.
“Expelled from Paradise” is a full-CG animation film released in 2014. It is the first original theatrical work for Seiji Mizushima and Gen Urobuchi, directed by Seiji Mizushima (Mobile Suit Gundam 00), scripted by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), character designed by Masashi Saito, and composed by NARASAKI. The film is set in 2400 AD.
A world turned into ruins by nano hazards, and many of the human race that have abandoned the surface world live in the cyber world of Diva. Diva is hacked from the surface by a mysterious entity calling itself the Frontier Setter (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya). Diva investigator Angela (voiced by Rie Kugimiya ) and ground investigator Dingo (voiced by Shinichiro Miki) approach the mystery of the strange events.
Angela’s Material Body also received positive feedback
In addition to the story, Angela’s flesh and blood designs, the Material Body, and the mobile exoskeleton suit, Arhan, that she uses to repel monsters also drew a great response.
The voice actors who played characters in a few scenes, including Megumi Hayashibara as Christine, Minami Takayama as Veronica, and Kotono Mitsuishi as Hilde, also attracted attention. Despite being released in only 13 theaters then, the film drew an audience of over 110,000 and sold over 70,000 copies of Blu-ray and DVD. It has also won various awards, including the Japan Movie Critics Award for Best Animation.
A sequel, “Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart,” is also in the works.
It has been decided that a sequel, a completely new animated film called “Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart,” will be produced in January 2024. The central staff will be reunited, and the story will continue after “Expelled from Paradise.”
