Following the Billboard Japan annual chart, the group Seventeen ranked highest among K-pop artists in the Oricon yearly rankings.
According to the ‘Oricon Annual Ranking 2023’ (accounting period from December 26, 2022, to December 18, 2023) announced by Japan’s Oricon on the 20th, the 10th mini album in the ‘Album Ranking’ and ‘Combined Album Ranking.’ ‘FML’ ranked 3rd, their first Japanese best album ‘ALWAYS YOURS’ ranked 5th, and their 11th mini album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ ranked 7th; all three albums released by SEVENTEEN this year and ranked in the top 10. Seventeen is the only artist in Japan and abroad to have three works ranked in the ‘Top 10’ in ‘Album Ranking’ and ‘Combined Album Ranking.’
In ‘Total sales category by artist,’ Seventeen ranked 4th with total sales of 8.1 billion yen (approximately 73.7 billion won), proving their overwhelming popularity in Japan by recording the highest ranking among K-pop artists in all charts on which their name was listed.
Meanwhile, Seventeen recently completed the most extensive Japanese dome tour since its debut. ‘SEVENTEEN TOUR FOLLOW TO JAPAN’ was held 12 times in five Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Saitama, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka, and was attended by 515,000 audiences.
Seventeen will appear at the ’74th Red and White Song Battle’ held on the 31st. ‘Red and White Song Battle’ is the largest music festival and representative year-end particular program of Japanese public broadcasting broadcasted on NHK on December 31 every year, and features the most loved singers in Japan throughout the year.
