The TV anime series “Yomi no Tsugai,” based on Hiromu Arakawa’s original work, has been scheduled to air in 2026. The four prominent cast members have also been announced.

Kensho Ono will play Yuru, a young hunter with a deep knowledge of the mountains and an exceptional archer. Yume Miyamoto will play Asa, Yuru’s twin sister with an eyepatch. Yuichi Nakamura will play Della, a carefree and friendly traveling merchant, and Misaki Kuno will play Gabu-chan, a petite girl with striking braids and a hoodie.

The cast announcement trailer features the voices of each character. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray versions of the films “Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos,” both based on Arakawa’s original work, will be released on January 28, 2026. To commemorate this milestone, a special screening of “Fullmetal Alchemist” and an advance screening of “Yomi no Tsugai” were also announced. “Yomi no Tsugai” is a battle fantasy centered around Yuru and Asa, siblings born as “night and day twins” deep in the mountains of Japan. Yuru and his friends, who are said to one day possess the power to shake the world, face a cruel fate alongside the mysterious Tsugai.

The original manga is currently being serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan (Square Enix). This new information was announced at the online event ” Aniplex Online Fest 2025 ” held today, September 13th. The archived stream will be available on YouTube until September 20th. Comment from Ono Kensho (voice of Yuru): I’m Ono Kensho, and I’ll be voicing Yuru in the TV anime “Yomi no Tsugai.” I never dreamed the day would come when I’d be able to participate in Arakawa-sensei’s work!

The dubbing has already begun, and I can really feel the enthusiasm of the cast and staff. It’s a tense, but very enjoyable recording session. I’ll do my best to deliver something that preserves the good points of the original while also enhancing it. Thank you for your support! Miyamoto Yume (Asa’s voice) I’m Miyamoto Yume, the voice of Asa. I’m so happy to be able to say this. After receiving the audition details, I got to know the work and was captivated by the depth of the story, the interesting setting, and the charm of each character. At the same time, I was excited to hear that this work would be adapted into an anime.

With so many characters, I was torn between wanting to be involved in any role and really wanting to play Asa. When I heard I had passed, I was so happy that I went out for yakiniku by myself! I’m also extremely happy to be able to work on a project with Ono Kensho, who has been a big influence on me since I was a child and someone I’ve admired! Since they’ve entrusted me with this role, I’ll do my best, carefully and with all my heart. Thank you for your support! Comment from Nakamura Yuichi (Dela): I’m Nakamura Yuichi, and I’ll be playing the role of Dela.

This marks my first time working with Arakawa since my role as Greed in “Fullmetal Alchemist.” Like Greed, Dela also exudes a somewhat brotherly quality…or maybe not (laughs). As the title suggests, “Tsugai” (pair) is a key element of the story in this work, “Yomi no Tsugai.” It refers to two beings becoming a pair. If you think about it, the concept of pairing, like “equivalent exchange,” was also a major theme in “FMA” (although technically the meaning is slightly different…). Perhaps Arakawa has a special attachment to the concept of “pairs.” Those familiar with the original work will enjoy the new appeal of the anime’s unique movements, voices, and music. Also, for those who are drawn to this work through the anime, I highly recommend checking out the original work. I hope you enjoy the anime and the original work, which complement each other as a pair.

Comment from Kuno Misaki (voice of Gabu-chan): I personally love Gabu-chan’s smile with his teeth showing. I’m very happy to be able to play such a character! I will do my best to portray Gabu-chan, who stands out uniquely. Even during the dubbing, I continue to be fascinated by the worldview of this work. I will do my best as a member of the cast so that everyone can enjoy the show, so I hope you will support me!
