In the 47th episode of the anime “The Apothecary Diaries,” which began airing on June 27th, the traitor’s daughter, Princess Rouran (voiced by Masami Seto), scarred the face of Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka). Since Jinshi is supposed to be an extremely handsome man, viewers were shocked to see a scar on his noble face.

The mastermind behind the rebellion by the Shi clan is Shisho’s (voiced by Cho) wife, Kamimi (voiced by Fukami Rika). Kamimi, who was once the wife of the previous emperor, grew to resent the country and the last emperor who had ruined her life, and also hated Jinshi, who was said to be the emperor’s younger brother.

When Jinshi appeared with an army to defeat the rebels, Princess Loulan, the daughter of the Divine Beauty, asked, “May I ask you to grant me two wishes?” Princess Loulan slashed Jinshi’s cheek and confessed, “Mother, this is the best I can do.” Perhaps wanting to atone for his sins, Jinshi offered no resistance and granted Princess Loulan’s wishes.

Jinshi himself didn’t resist, but many viewers were shocked that his famously handsome face, which was said to be “a godsend if he were a woman,” had been damaged. Screams arose online, with comments such as, “There’s a scar on Jinshi’s beautiful face…”, “Ahhhhhh. There’s a scar on Jinshi’s noble face…”, and “What have they done to Jinshi’s face!!”
