by The TV anime “One Dance” will begin airing on October 8, 2025. The second promotional video has been released. It has also been revealed that BE: FIRST will perform the opening theme song and ELSEE will perform the ending theme song, along with comments from each artist.
One Dance” is a TV anime based on the “street dance x romance” manga by Coffee, which is currently serialized in Kodansha’s monthly comic magazine “Afternoon” and has sold over 1.1 million copies. The Story follows high school student Kotani Hanaki (voiced by Uchiyama Kouki), who struggles to express himself with a stutter. He becomes drawn to Dance through his classmate Wanita Hikari (voiced by Hitsujimiya Hina), who pursues her own expression without worrying about what others think. He then embarks on a journey of “freestyle” dance, which requires no words.
Highly popular both in Japan and overseas, the manga has been published in 10 languages and won the “Work Most Anticipated for Anime Adaptation” award at the North American manga awards, “You Should Read This Manga 2023.” Amid eager anticipation from fans both in Japan and overseas, the TV anime is finally about to begin airing. The second trailer, released this time, showcases Hanaki’s awakening to her love of dance and blossoming talent, along with Wanita, who dances as if guiding Hanaki.
Additionally, unique characters such as Miyao On (voiced by Suwa Ayaka ), the dance club’s captain and absolute ace; Itsukushima Iori (voiced by Masuda Toshiki), a talented ghost club member; and Kabeya Raku (voiced by Uchida Yuma), a formidable B-boy from another school, also make their first appearance. Anticipation is building for the dynamic dance scenes that are unique to dance anime. Information about the theme song has also been revealed.
The opening theme song will be “Stare In Wonder,” a new song by BE: FIRST, a seven-member dance and vocal group that has been highly successful, including touring Japan’s four central domes to an audience of approximately 300,000. The ending theme will be “Wondrous,” a new song by ELSEE, a promising dance and vocal group that recently announced their major debut. Both songs will be performed by a group of talented artists boasting some of the most advanced dance skills in the music industry, further enhancing the excitement of this street dance-themed film. Comments from each artist were also shared with the announcement.
The promotional video also features the debut of “Kujira” by Yaffle feat: Sahnya, one of the more than 30 dance songs featured in the film. Yaffle has previously worked on songs for artists such as Fujii Kaze, Omori Motoki, Yonezu Kenshi, and SEKAI NO OWARI, as well as numerous soundtracks for films and dramas, making him one of the core artists at the forefront of Japan’s current music scene.
The main cast will appear on stage at a special stage event at the Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2025 (Kyoto Maf) on September 21, and a preview screening featuring the main cast and dance cast is scheduled for September 27 at Shinjuku Piccadilly. Stay tuned for further updates.
