“LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins,” a prequel to “LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline,” the first 2D animated feature film in about 30 years, will be released simultaneously on Friday, June 20th. Director Miyazaki of the Sunday Theatre drama “Mikami Sensei” has sent a congratulatory comment on releasing the information. It has also been decided that “Lupin the Third: The Intrigue of the Fuuma Clan” will be released for the first time.

This latest hard-hitting action film is directed by director Koike Takeshi, who has been highly praised for his stylish and serious style both at home and abroad, including the director of “REDLINE” (2010), which was a hot topic for its limit-defying visuals, and the “Matrix” anthology animation “The Animatrix World Records” (2003), and who also directed the “Lupin the Third” series (2014-).

The film is the latest hard-hitting action film with Inspector Zenigata as the protagonist. A teaser visual has also been released, depicting Inspector Zenigata in a trench coat, looking straight ahead with a sharp gaze, wearing a fedora that looks like a bullet has hit it, and Lupin the Third about to walk out with a Walther P38 in his hand.

The meaning of the copy is “Was it you who was stolen…?” What awaits the two of them in the distance? And for the Sunday Theatre drama “Mikami Sensei” that began airing on TBS in January, the scriptwriter, Shimori Roba, is a big Lupin fan, especially Ishikawa Goemon, so a character named “Jigen (Tsugimoto)” was created in the script. Director Miyazaki Yohei is also a Lupin fan, so a set of Jigen’s room was made, and he cooperated with “Mikami Sensei” throughout the episodes.

When the episode aired featured a poster for “LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins” in Jigen’s room, Lupin fans were in an uproar on social media, with comments like “Is that a poster before the ban was lifted?” “I’ve never seen that blue poster before?” and “Is it a new work by Koike Lupin?”.

In commemoration of the film’s release, it has been decided that “Zenigata and the Two Lupins” will be broadcast on TV for the first time on WOWOW. In addition, three works, “Gravestone of Daisuke Jigen,” “Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa,” and “The Lie of Fujiko Mine,” will be broadcast all at once. Original work: Monkey Punch (C) TMS
