“The Great Mission of Miss Yozakura” is a spy family comedy filled with love and laughter, depicting the turbulent daily life of high school student Asano Taiyo, who has become closed off after losing his family in an accident, as he lives with the Yozakuras, a family of spies with a long history.
The original manga by Gonpei Hitsuji began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2019 and has sold over 3.6 million copies. After approximately five and a half years of serialization, the series reached its grand finale in January of this year, eliciting strong emotional responses and generating much buzz.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to October 2024, and after the final episode aired, it was announced that a second season would be produced. The first key visual, released alongside the announcement of the second season’s broadcast information, depicts the Yozakura family speeding off in their car with cherry blossoms in full bloom behind them. With the arrival of spring, the image evokes the beginning of a new story. Where exactly is this eccentric spy family headed? It has also been revealed that Sakurazaka46’s “What’s ‘KAZOKU’?” will serve as the opening theme for the second season.
This marks the first time Sakurazaka46 has sung an anime theme song. Sakurazaka46 commented, “‘What’s ‘KAZOKU’?’ is a song with a family theme that conveys the bonds and warmth of family.
