Dengeki’s New Literature 2nd Anniversary Contest was published in book form. The story begins with the protagonist, Meg, being told she has only a little time left to live. Then, she solves the people’s problems in the town with magic, collecting people’s “tears of joy” to break the curse.
The comic version is also being serialized in Dengeki Comic Regulus. Synopsis of “Until a Witch Dies”: “You will die in a year because of the curse.” “Huh?” It’s her 17th birthday. Meg, an apprentice witch, is told by her master, the long-time witch Faust, that she has only a little time left to live. The only way to break the curse is to collect a thousand people’s tears of joy and create the “Seed of Life.”
Meg expands her closed world to collect tears and interacts with many people: encounters, farewells, friendship, love – and tears. After receiving many feelings and making promises, Meg learns essential things as a witch and realizes what her master is trying to give her. “I haven’t been able to repay my master at all. So, I still…” It is a bright, cheerful, and slightly sad story of a year spent with a master and disciple witch.
