Wake Ni, Muri Muri!” is a non-stop girls’ love comedy set in school life and woven by unique characters. The story depicts the protagonist, Amaori Rena, who left her lonely middle school days behind and started high school, and her classmate, school superstar Ozuka Mayu, who happens to share their worries with her, and the two become secret friends. It is a light novel currently being published by Shueisha’s “Dash X Bunko” and won first place in the new work category in the “Next Light Novel Award 2021”. As of September 2024, the series has sold over 500,000 copies. The original author is Mikamite Rende, who is active in a wide range of fields, including not only light novels but also manga originals, game scenarios, and anime scripts, and the illustrations are by Takeshima Eku, who continues to make great strides as a manga artist. For this TV anime adaptation, the animation will be handled by studioMOTHER, which has worked on “More than a Couple, Less than a Lover” and “Reincarnated Nobleman, Rising with Appraisal Skills.”
A teaser visual and a special trailer by character designer Koji were also released along with the announcement. This trailer, set to the soundtrack by music composer Yoshimasa Fujisawa, gives you a fun and high-tension feel of the individuality of the work, which is advertised as a “youthful girls’ romantic comedy.” Enjoy it while paying attention to the relationship between the main characters, Renako and Mayu.
In addition, visuals of the five main characters with unique personalities were also released, and the cast for Rena, Mayu, and Ajisai was also revealed. Nakamura Kanna will play the role of Amaori Rena, the protagonist who made great success in her high school debut; Onishi Saori will play the role of Ozuka Mayu, the leader of the group and the school’s superstar, and Anzai Yukari will play Sena Ajisai, who is the healing type of the group and exudes a warm aura. The cast and the original author, Mikami Te Ren, also commented. The TV anime “Watashi ga Koibito ni Naru Wake ga Ikusei Ni Naru Wake ga Ikusei Ni Naru, Impossible! (※It wasn’t impossible!?)” will be broadcast in the summer of 2025.
We look forward to further updates in the future. Also, from November 20th, “Dash-X Bunko” will hold a campaign linked to this work at the “Shueisha Dash-X Bunko 10th Anniversary Fair,” which will be held in the stores of participating bookstores in the fair. Fans should check it out as well. Original work: Mikami Te Ren Watanabe is being made into an anime! Yay! Four years ago, I created this work and the genre “Girls’ Love Comedy” with the feeling that “There are too few yuri in light novels… I want to read more… I’ll make it popular…”. Now, beyond the framework of light novels, the term “Girls’ Love Comedy” is heard everywhere. I’m happy!
This anime adaptation will allow even more people to enjoy it! Please, Renako. Kanna Nakamura, I’ve been a big fan of this work since I read the original work. Each character has their drama and is a charming girl. Every episode is full of excitement, and it’s the best. Renako is always on edge, but she is a kind and empathetic natural flirt. That’s her charm, so I will do my best to play her.
I appreciate your support! Saori Onishi, I feel that the theme of this work, “love between girls,” is so deep while playing Mayu! The original teachers, directors, and other staff members are all very enthusiastic, and it’s a luxurious place where we can carefully do the dubbing every time…! I’m grateful and excited that “Watanabe” will reach everyone soon. Please look forward to the broadcast…! Anzai Yukari When I first voiced Hydrangea’s words, I felt it was right, and I thought it would be great if I could be in charge of the voice.
I was thrilled when I learned that I would be entrusted with Hydrangea. I’m playing her with care. I like expressive conversations and relationships and look forward to seeing them move in the anime. I hope everyone will look forward to it. TV anime “Watashi ga Koibito ni Naru Wake Nani Jan, Muri Muri! (※It wasn’t impossible!?)” TV anime adaptation decided for summer 2025!
