The first PV for the TV anime “Douse, Koi Shimaunda,” based on the manga by Haruka Mitsui currently being serialized in the girls’ manga magazine “Nakayoshi” (Kodansha), has been released on YouTube. The video depicts the love and youth of five people who were supposed to be the main characters’ childhood friends, and a particular incident changes their relationship.
It was also announced that Yuto Uemura and Azusa Tadokoro will appear as additional cast members. Uemura will play Ryosuke Saito, a senior in the swimming club whom Mizuho admires, and Tadokoro will play Chinatsu Kurashiki, Mizuho’s best friend.
Uemura commented, “The film is full of the idea that this is what youth is all about! The unfounded confidence and drive of a student when you’re still nobody, and the time you spend with dazzling friends that comes with that. It’s a heart-warming film sprinkled with the sparkle of youth.”
Tadokoro said, “She is always concerned about Mizuho and takes care of her, but she has a calm perspective, so I was careful not to get too close to her feelings. That distance and warmth were the difficult parts. Chinatsu looks cool, but she has a warm heart and cares about her friends! I hope I was able to express her charm.”
An advance screening featuring prominent cast members Sakura Arafuku, Nozomi Urawa, Shion Yoshitaka, Shoya Chiba, and Keiji Inomata will be held at United Cinema Aquacity Odaiba (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on November 17th.
The series began serialization in Nakayoshi in December 2020. It depicts the heart-pounding romance and youth of the protagonist Mizuho, who grew up in a seaside town, and her childhood friends, Teruzuki, Miku, Ai, and Shugo, all of whom have unique personalities. The anime will be directed by Shunichi Yamamoto and produced by Taifu Graphics. It will air on TBS, BS11, and other networks in January 2025.
