The key question here is how Freiren and his companions will encounter other characters during their journey.
The anime already provided hints about this. Freiren and his companions’ journey doesn’t involve rushing to their destination in a straight line. In fact, there are scenes where they stay in one place for an extended period of time, which angers Fern.
