by ‘Freaky Tales’ from blockbuster ‘Captain Marvel’s directorial duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will feature Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) and Ben Mendelsohn (“Captain Marvel”). ) and Jay Ellis (“Top Gun: Maverick ”) will star, Deadline reports.
Directed, written, and produced by Borden and Fleck, the new film is set in Oakland, California, in 1987 and features four intertwined stories.
It is a familiar yet fresh and deeply engraved drama work related to music, movies, sports, politics, people, places, and memories (including true stories and creations).
“Freaky Tales” will be executive produced by James Lopez, Charles D. King, Oakland rap legend Todd Shaw, AKA Too Short, and manager David Weintraub.
In the script, 80’s Oakland icon Too Short’s song was a key element, and Boden and Fleck reportedly enlisted him after a meeting. Grammy Award-winning artist Raphael Saadiq from Auckland will supervise the music.
