In One Piece, Yamato and Kiku share a shower with the Straw Hat crew, that many players like.
The Wano arc of One Piece is coming to an end, with only a few episodes left. The League manages to defeat Kaido and Big Mama, freeing the Wano people after many years.
Luffy and Zoro were seriously injured during their fight against Kaido and King. Once they recovered, a short ceremony was held in their honor. Momonosuke announced that a big party was being prepared for them. Meanwhile, Nami suggested that Yamato and everyone else should take a shower, especially since Yamato swore not to eat and shower until Luffy recovered.
Yamato tells Nami that the castle doesn’t have a bathroom, while Kiku asks if he can join Nami for a shower. The scene then cuts to the men’s shower, where Sanji, Jinbe, and Brook are washing up. Luffy and Yamato come in and dive into the water, causing Brook and Sanji to have nosebleeds. On the other hand, in the women’s bath, Kaku appears among the other women.
Is Yamato a girl? Yes, Yamato is a girl, as confirmed by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. However, he identifies as Oden and uses the pronoun “he/she” when referring to himself and others. Oda is specified in Vivre cards’ official data sheets, and Yamato’s gender is male. This adds another layer to the character, who is referred to as “he/she” by the other One Piece characters, including Kaido, who calls Yamato his son. From a young age, Yamato admired Oden and wanted to emulate him. After Oden’s departure, Yamato began to refer to himself as Oden and adopted the pronoun “he/she”, which was respected by one page. So if you’re wondering why Yamato is in the men’s shower with Luffy and the other Straw Hats instead of the women’s shower, it’s because he identifies as male.
Kiku, on the other hand, identifies as female and uses feminine pronouns. He was found in a women’s bathroom and expressed discomfort with the male identity assigned to him at birth.
In episode 1079, Kiku revealed that he was taking a shower with Oden and the others, although it was difficult for him. One Piece, which started its manga on July 22, 1997, and its anime on October 20, 1999, is famous for its diverse characters. The addition of Yamato and Kiku adds even more diversity to the cast. Yamato’s gender identity has caused controversy since its introduction in the manga, and the discussion has already started now that it appears in the anime, usually on X (formerly known as Twitter).
In summary, Yamato identifies as male and uses male pronouns, as confirmed by Oda. However, Kiku was born a man and identified as a woman using feminine pronouns.
