On the 31st, the first anniversary of the opening of Anime Tokyo Station, a facility that introduces Japanese anime culture, a commemorative event was held at the facility in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. Voice actors Mina Tominaga (58), Ryusei Nakao (73), and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike (72) attended.
The facility, which exhibits about 50,000 anime materials such as cel drawings and dubbing scripts, is run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and managed by the Association of Japanese Animations.
Popular characters such as Anpanman also attended the commemorative event hosted by Tominaga and Nakao. Veteran voice actor Masako Nozawa (88) sent a congratulatory video message saying, “Spread the charm of Japanese anime from Tokyo to the world! Go for it, Tokyo! Association of Japanese Animations!” Governor Koike said on behalf of the organizers, “It’s been a year since the museum opened, and we’ve had over 110,000 visitors from both within and outside Japan.
From now on, we’ll work with anime-related locations around the country to create opportunities for people to travel around the museum, and we hope to develop it into an even greater hub for anime-related activities.”
