Anime has been hot since winter!
The anime series that began in the winter of 2025 is gradually reaching its final episodes. I’m sure you’ve all found your favorite works. On the other hand, some of you may not have been able to check out the ones you’re interested in yet.
This time, for the reference of such people, let’s look back on the works that attracted attention this winter. First, we will introduce three new works that have gained exceptionally high popularity, based on how much the number of followers of X (formerly Twitter) has increased since the start of broadcasting (as of mid-March 2025).
Medalist: The anime that increased X’s followers the most out of all the winter animes was Medalist, with over 60,000 followers. The story is about a girl who is learning to skate by herself, Yuzuki Inori (CV: Haruse Natsumi ), and her coach, Akira Michiji (CV: Otsuka Takeo ), who team up to become a medalist. Kenshi Yonezu, a fan of the original work, approached the cast to provide the theme song, and the music video featured real medalist Yuzuru Hanyu, making Medalist a hot topic outside of the series. The original manga was also highly acclaimed, but this is a good example of how the anime adaptation expanded the fanbase even further.
BanG Dream! Ave Mujica The account of Ave Mujica, the band that appears in BanG Dream! Ave Mujica saw an increase of 32,000 followers, the third-highest increase among all the winter animes after Medalist and I’m the Guild Receptionist. Still, I Don’t Want to Work Overtime, so I’m Going to Defeat the Boss Solo.
The series is part of the “BanG Dream!” series and is essentially a sequel to “BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!”, but it seems to have gained new fans. Anyone following the shocking developments and depictions released almost every week will understand why it has attracted so much attention.
“Sorairo Utility” (although a short anime was produced at the end of 2021) has increased its followers by about 15,000. It is one of the original anime that has shown tremendous growth without original work.
The work is a youth sports comedy about a high school girl, “Aobane Minami (CV: Takagi Miyu ),” who is looking for “something that will make her special,” and meets golf and grows as a person. The exquisite balance of relaxation that doesn’t get too serious was also well received, and many girls who enjoy their hobbies were captivated by it. What was your favorite winter anime?
In addition to the above, many other works have garnered attention as they were broadcast. On the other hand, some works did not receive much attention but were indeed interesting. Why not take this opportunity to look back on your favorite works from this winter?
